I strongly object to potential large-scale development on Green Belt land around Adlington and believe the site-selection methodology should exclude unsuitable sites at an early stage. I am concerned that development would cause urban sprawl, erode Adlington’s identity and result in the loss of productive agricultural land and habitats. I believe significant existing and proposed housing growth should be considered alongside infrastructure capacity. The area has limited road and public transport capacity and development would increase car dependency. I am also concerned about flooding, ground stability, historic mining and ecological constraints. I believe brownfield development should be prioritised before further Green Belt release.
