At the time of safeguarding in the 2017 Local Plan, LPS 59 was not recognised as a nationaly significant mossland. In 2018 after the 2017 local plan the Cheshire East Landscape Character Assessment designated it as an important Mossland Landscape Character Area (LCT9) This was done to protect it.

This Mossland is important in achieving net zero, the unique habitat and biodiversity it provides, its importance in water management to the LCT9, and significantly the presence of unique ‘moss rooms’.

It should not be included in the plan for housing development, but should be removed completely from the plan.
