I strongly oppose the revised NPPF. The new rules obliterate long term environmental survival and food security. By dismantling vital planning protections, this policy accelerates the destruction of Green Belt, erodes the historic character of our town, threatens British agriculture, and drastically increases climate vulnerabilities. It converts precious ecosystems into permanent concrete. It decimates domestic food production and destroys multi-generational farming livelihoods.
As witnesses in new development in Macclesfield -increased flooding risks, increases toxic water run off and directly elevates flood risk for downstairs communities. Eliminates biodiversity, destroys carbon sinks, drives up transport emissions form poor planning

While the EC council's public literature repeatedly advise that Brownfield sites will be prioritised, evidence demonstrated that this is not being enforced in practice. Instead, the process remains heavily developer-led , resulting in systematic targeting and destruction of our vital Green Belt.
There is no mandated requirement, particularly where housing supply pressures exist. This allows speculative developers to bypass town centre regeneration. Developers exploit this weakness. They build on green belt because it is cheaper. The council refuses to reclaim urban land for development adding to the worsening situation.

Massive speculative green belt submissions under he call for sites mechanism, landowners and developers have flooded the system with massive rural submissions, 291 hectares of productive greenbelt around Ashley and vast allocations in Adlington, demonstrating the plans direction is entirely dictated by developer profit rather than community-led brownfield priority.

East cheshire should halt any further Green Belt allocations until it publishes a fully updated, legally binding Brownfield register. The council is ignoring it's own baseline commitment to brownfield - first development.

The whole sale conversion of Macclesfield's outlying rural fields puts and unsustainable burden on already overstretched local services, local roads, drainage networks, Macclesfield hospital and healthcare facility's, and school places do not have the infrastructure capacity to support large scale, speculative residential developments.
