There is no case for housing development in the Green Belt area of Adlington which location is designated to prevent urban sprawl from Greater Manchester. There should be no loss of productive farmland. Existing infrastructure is inadequate with houses on septic tanks, narrow lanes, poor public transport ( train line to Manchester running at full capacity ) . The housing needs of Cheshire East broadly align with employment centres none of which can be accessed by public transport from Adlington.
Cheshire Wildlife Trust has identified Adlington as an environmentally sensitive landscape requiring protection. Development would increase car use significantly.
