I am concerned that Cheshire East Council has not fully considered the implications of reclassifying Green Belt land as Grey Belt and permitting development on previously protected sites. In particular, the approval of around 200 homes on the Prestbury Road site has caused significant concern among local residents. Despite extensive community efforts and evidence presented against the scheme, residents feel their concerns were disregarded, especially as earlier decisions had supported their case. There is a perception that developers have greater resources to pursue repeated appeals than local communities have to oppose them. Residents fear continued development on greenfield sites will erode Cheshire’s countryside character and undermine public confidence in the planning process.

I don’t think Cheshire East planning has considered the impact and implications of building on green belt land that has suddenly become grey belt.
The area that I am most concerned about and connected with is the Prestbury Road site that the local residents have fought against and produced evidence to support the issue that this particular site and beyond is green belt and building 200 houses is going to have a diverse effect on the environment.
We have lost our appeal and lots of local residents are very upset and angry with the decision that Bloor Homes has now permission to build.
Evidence produced at the appeal seems to have been dismissed by the inspector although at the first appeal the residents case and evidence was upheld. What power to residents have against the wealth of these builders who have huge amounts of assets to keep appealing against the wishes of the community?
Cheshire East is not listening to the residents. Cheshire will not be the green county it has always been if developers are allowed to build on green field sites.
