Representation Summary:
I object to the proposed housing development in Ashley village. The land being considered is active farmland, which I believe should be retained for food production given risks from extreme weather and international conflict. I believe landowners have a responsibility to tenant farmers and the local community rather than seeking to monetise inherited land. Ashley lacks the infrastructure needed to support additional housing, including schools, shops, sewerage and transport. I am also concerned that the land is designated as Green Belt and question what this designation means if the Council can secure rights to develop it. I ask that the proposal is stopped.

I am writing to express my objection to the proposed housing development that Cheshire East Council is contemplating for Ashley village.
My objection is based on these points;
1. The land proposed to be assigned to housing is active farmland. How can we possibly consider giving up farmland to houses when there is an acute risk of being unable to grow or import basic commodities due to the extreme weather we are experiencing or the Ukraine conflict.
2. The landowners quite frankly should have a responsibility to the tenant farmers and the local population in ashley instead of seeking to monetise an inheritance which some years ago would have been a gift from the monarch.

3. Ashley village has absolutely no infrastructure to support the proposed housing. No school, shops, sewerage, transport.
4. It is designated green belt land. What does it signify when a council is allowed to secure rights to develop an area of green belt.
