I object to the proposed development of Land North of Blakelow Road, which is currently agricultural land used for livestock grazing. I believe brownfield and greenfield sites should be considered for development before Green Belt land. I am concerned that removing the land from the Green Belt would have a significant negative visual impact on the landscape and the character of the surrounding Macclesfield area, including views from the town centre. The Green Belt provides an important buffer and transition between the built environment and open countryside. Its elevated position means that any built development would be particularly prominent and dominant within the landscape.

I am writing to comment on the new local plan, noting the response to the call for sites proposing use of Land North of Blakelow Road for Housing and Residential usage. I would object to the land - currently agricultural land used for livestock grazing (sheep and cows) being developed for the following reasons:
• The local planning authority needs to consider the development of brownfield and greenfield sites before considering the development of Green Belt land
• The removal of the Green Belt will have a significant and negative visual impact on the landscape and the character of the surrounding area of Macclesfield, including viewed from the town centre.
• The Green Belt is an important buffer and visual transition between the built environment and the open countryside
• The Green Belt protects the landscape, particularly where Green Belt land is topographically elevated and where built development will be particularly dominant
