Local plan scoping consultation

I wish to lodge my objection to the proposal from Tatton Estates which affects Ashley.
• Is the area of proposed development really ‘grey belt’ land? The present use of the land prevents the urban sprawl of the Manchester conurbation spreading southwards. This is open worked farmed land which clearly preserves agricultural resources. The proposal undermines the purposes of ‘Green Belt’ land to safeguard the countryside from encroachment.
• Although there is an existing station in Ashley it offers an unreliable service of only one train each hour. The narrow twisting Cheshire lanes are not suitable for the increase in traffic which would result from the submitted plan. Even if the roads were to improved there are several narrow points on the simple stretch between Hale and Ashley of rail bridges and a river crossing.
• Tatton Estates claim: ‘…a deep understanding of the local are and a sense of responsibility for stewarding future development across its land…’ yet, as I understand it, none of the current tenant farmers were consulted about the proposal prior to its submission.
• I request that Cheshire East Council formally classify this area and adjoining sites as unsuitable and undeliverable.
