Locally specific standards should only be introduced where clearly justified by national policy, robust local evidence and viability testing. It is considered that additional local standards could increase costs, create uncertainty and affect housing affordability and delivery.

Redrow supports addressing climate change and improving resilience through spatial planning measures such as sustainable locations, green infrastructure, flood risk, biodiversity and landscape considerations. Technical construction and energy standards should remain aligned with national regulations. Any locally specific requirements should be evidence-based, viability tested and clearly costed to ensure they do not adversely affect the viability or delivery of development.

Redrow recognises the importance of protecting Jodrell Bank Observatory and its operations but considers its buffer area should not operate as an exclusion zone for development. Proposals should be assessed on their actual effects, considering location, scale, design and mitigation. Redrow seeks greater clarity on radio-frequency interference evidence, development likely to cause impacts, and appropriate mitigation measures. Clear parameters should be published to allow potential effects to be addressed early in the design process.
